Guenther Steiner has said that he is not bothered by claims from some teams that the Haas car is too similar to the Ferrari this season.

The Haas VF-22, as has been the case with previous Haas cars, is powered by a Ferrari engine, and the team has close ties to the Scuderia, with several former Ferrari employees now within the team and the regular buying of parts from the Prancing Horse outfit also taking place over the years.

Indeed, with Ferrari the strongest car on the grid in 2022 and Haas making a big leap forwards this year, too, that relationship was always going to potentially come under scrutiny from other teams and so it has proven, with some suggesting the FIA needs to look at the rules concerning how close teams can work on certain aspects.

Haas team boss Steiner, though, is unconcerned by the chatter:

"It is not even frustrating it’s just like again the same,” said Steiner to FormulaRapida.

“I don’t get frustrated anymore, I just get used to it so it’s normal. Andreas doesn’t run the FIA unfortunately, so he can suggest it but there is a governance in place which will define it as much as he wants to run it.

“There is sometimes things in the rules that don’t work but you can’t go and change it. Mercedes was winning the world championship for eight years in a row with a very strong engine and good luck to them that they did a good job but nobody said we now need to change the engine rule because Mercedes is winning everything.

“It’s just there is governance in place which certain people think they can change everything by just speaking. I don’t think that is going to happen.”
