Who said Liverpool vs Manchester United games were boring in the modern era? Because the last few have served up absolute crackers.

It was boxing office viewing last night so long as you weren't a fan of the Red Devils.

If you are, well, commiserations - that's just part and parcel of being a football fan, we've all been there.

It's so incredibly frustrating having to watch your team put in such a dismal performance, lacking any real bite or belief to their game, and over at the Manchester Evening News they certainly felt that gripe.

A damning verdict then from the local newspaper and one that was shared by the entire punditry team during their post-match analysis.

What the pundits said

Roy Keane was as outspoken as ever in his scathing criticism and opted to single out three individuals in particular that he felt let Man Utd down on the night.

Harry Maguire, who has struggled since the European Championship, came under-fire once more for his role in Mohamed Salah's second goal. "We've heard it so many times this season, so many times," Keane said angrily.

"They haven't got that team spirit that you need. We talk about having all the talent, Man United is well short on talent anyway, we've been saying for the last few months 'well they're talented...' they're not as talented as they think.

"Then they need the rest of them to back it up; that fighting spirit, energy, we saw the midfield tonight. Rashford's performance up front. Jesse Lingard coming on to save Man United, Jesse Lingard should've left the club two years ago, he's not good enough.

"Rashford played like a child up-front, he wasn't getting service but he was getting it in the first-half and when you're through on goal a poor touch."
