WWE talent are, according to reports, now permitted to smoke marijuana, something that wasn't the case previously.

WWE has a start Wellness Policy code, outlining that talent will be fined, suspended and even fired for taking various banned substances.

One of the substances that many people thought was banned was marijuana, and while that was the case several years ago, reports state that WWE's stance has softened.

Fightful Select is reporting that no one within WWE has been fined or suspended for smoking weed for several years.

WWE talent have told Fightful that they've not been suspended for marijuana use in "years," a progressive change from the policy that existed previously

Sources told Fightful that while WWE Superstars are still tested for "every" banned substance, they are not fined if they test positive for smoking weed anymore.

At least one wrestler we spoke to said that they still get tested for "everything," but they just don't get fined for weed anymore.

WWE stars throughout the years have argued against the policy, including Bret Hart, who said that marijuana was a safer alternative to the other things wrestlers used to deal with pains from wrestling.

On this note, the report states that Randy Orton was seen as an "integral figure" in getting WWE to change its policy for main roster talent.

Randy Orton was an integral figure in influencing a change on the main roster. Perphaps unsurprisingly

Fightful also explains that Riddle and Kona Reeves, during their times with NXT, were quite outspoken about wanting the policy to be relaxed.

We're told Riddle was also outspoken about it in NXT, as well as Kona Reeves when he was still a part of the company.

It's worth noting, as Fightful has stressed in its report, that marijuana is still listed as a banned substance on the Wellness Policy documents on WWE's corporate website.
