Allan Saint-Maximin is one of the most entertaining players in the Premier League.Even when Newcastle United were limping through their toughest runs of form under Steve Bruce, the majestic Frenchman was the one player you could always rely on to capture the imagination.Say what you like about his end product at times, but few players in all of world football have the ball-carrying ability of Saint-Maximin.

The blockbuster entertainment of ASM

The 25-year-old is right up there with players like Adama Traore in simply having an uncanny ability to eat up the length of a football pitch in one fell swoop with outrageous dribbling and pace.

And with Eddie Howe curating a more tactically-sound Newcastle side in which Saint-Maximin isn't having to pick the ball up on the halfway line, he's been able to go from strength to strength.

As such, it shouldn't be a surprise that Saint-Maximin's confidence is sky-high right now with the Newcastle baller going out of his way to prove that during the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.

Saint-Maximin showboats vs Palace

That's because the headband-clad winger produced one of the most hilariously unnecessary skills that, frankly, we've ever seen in England's top-flight.

Before Miguel Almiron had fired the Toon into the lead with a scintillating run and finish, Saint-Maximin was bringing the St. James' Park faithful to their feet with some funny dance moves.

The Newcastle star took the mickey out of Cheikhou Kouyaté by strutting over the ball with exaggerated step-overs in a style similar to Ronaldinho's famous goal at Chelsea for Barcelona.

And while there obviously wasn't the same end product on this occasion, the skill itself from Saint-Maximin was still so funny that you'd be mad not to watch it. Check out the footage down below:

It's so unnecessary we love it.

Pure entertainment

Sure, maybe some fans would argue it's completely arbitrary or maybe even disrespectful, but let's not pretend as though moments like this don't remind us why football entertains us all so much.

Besides, it's often how we feel when we're watching Neymar: he can be so darn frustrating at times, but he's only ever a few minutes away from producing something jaw-dropping.

And although Saint-Maximin isn't anywhere near that level in terms of overall footballing output, the simple fact of the matter is that he's right up there when it comes to pure entertainment.

He's most certainly worth the price of admission, that's for sure.
