Wolves midfielder Leander Dendoncker might have to move on from Molineux this summer, according to transfer insider Pete O'Rourke.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a switch to Italy, and O'Rourke believes it is something that could happen if his team-mates Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho end up remaining at the club.

What is the latest news involving Dendoncker?

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Lazio are looking at Dendoncker as they prepare for life without Lucas Leiva.

The Belgian, who is valued at £27m by Transfermarkt, is not the only Wolves midfielder thought to be attracting interest, however.

Sky Sports recently claimed that Arsenal have made Neves a top target, while Moutinho is almost certain to catch the attention of several clubs in the summer if he does not extend his current contract, which is set to expire at the end of the season.

The above means Bruno Lage could have quite the rebuild job on his hands ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

What has O'Rourke said about Dendoncker and Wolves?

In the past, it has been suggested that Wolves have to sanction exits in order to buy. With that in mind, if the Midlands club do go on to keep hold of both Neves and Moutinho, O'Rourke can see Dendoncker being sold.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the football journalist said: "If those two players end up staying at Wolves, that might mean Dendoncker might have to move on, and he has got this interest from Italy as well."

Should Wolves sell Dendoncker?

If Wolves want to remain in the conversation for European football, then they have to keep hold of Dendoncker, as well as Neves and Moutinho.

The Belgium international has been such a useful player for the Premier League outfit since joining on an initial loan deal from Anderlecht back in 2018.

He has played in defence and midfield, offering Wolves versatility, and is quite reliable, not missing a single top-flight game in the 2019/20 season under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Is Dendoncker as elegant on the ball as Neves and Moutinho? Probably not, but he quite clearly has his value so is worth keeping around.

However, if Wolves do need to get rid of players in order to improve their squad, then they may have little choice but to move Dendoncker on. Given the level of interest in Neves, though, you would still expect him to be the leading midfield candidate to be sold.
