Everton defender Yerry Mina is ‘quite likely’ to depart the club over the coming months, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The 27-year-old has been plagued by injuries throughout his time at Goodison Park, and with just over 12 months remaining on his current contract, he could be moved on in the summer.

What is the latest news involving Mina?

Mina joined Everton from Catalan giants Barcelona back in August 2018 for a fee that could rise to £28.5 million, signing a five-year deal following an impressive World Cup campaign.

However, the Colombia international has struggled to find his best form on a consistent basis since, largely due to his extensive fitness woes.

Throughout his near four-year stay on Merseyside, Mina has failed to start over 25 Premier League games in a single season, and this term has been one of his most frustrating to date.

Hamstring and thigh problems have limited the South American ace to just 12 appearances across all competitions as Everton have continued to struggle at the wrong end of the table.

And now new manager Frank Lampard may be tempted to cash in on Mina while he still can in order to bring in a more reliable centre-back to build his defence around.

What has Brown said about Mina?

Everton have a much better record when Mina has been available for selection this season, losing just four of the 11 top-flight fixtures he’s featured in.

Without the 6 foot 5 giant, the Blues have been defeated on 14 occasions in their other 20 Premier League encounters, yet Brown believes his exit is probable.

He told GiveMeSport: “I really think that it's quite likely, if they can (sell him), Yerry Mina might go because he’ll only have a year left on his contract this summer. He’s hardly played this season and has never been terribly reliable.”

Where could Mina move to?

According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Mina has previously attracted attention from Serie A.

The report states that Napoli were contemplating making a move for the commanding defender in January, while The Sun has also credited Inter and Fiorentina with an interest in the past.

It appears a move to Italy could be on the cards for Mina, and Everton will surely look to use the proceeds of his potential departure to bolster their fragile backline.
