Mike Tyson’s team have finally broken their silence after the former heavyweight champion of the world was involved in an incident on a plane.

Video footage obtained by TMZ showed Iron Mike attacking a passenger seated behind him on a flight from Florida to San Francisco.

The video footage shows the former boxer delivering several big blows to a fellow passenger – punches that were reminiscent of his glory days in the ring.

The punches came after Tyson was friendly with the passenger and his friend, taking a selfie with them on the plane – but things turned sour after that.

The man received medical attention for non-life threatening injuries and it's also believed no serious damage was caused because of the scuffle.

Now, Tyson’s representatives have told TMZ that the man punched by Tyson was intoxicated, “aggressive” and was harassing the former boxer.

In the statement, Tyson’s people said: "Unfortunately, Mr. Tyson had an incident on a flight with an aggressive passenger who began harassing him and threw a water bottle at him while he was in his seat."

The reports suggesting that the man threw a water bottle at Tyson are yet to be confirmed, but it may offer some explanation about why he attacked the man.

Tyson was set to appear at an event with wrestling legend Ric Flair, but the event organisers said Tyson’s appearance had been cancelled “due to a flight change.”

The San Francisco Police Dept. later also spoke to TMZ Sport, stating that police did attend the scene and two people were detained who were believed to be witnesses.

The police went on to further say that the person treated for injuries "provided minimal details of the incident and refused to cooperate further with the police investigation."

We are yet to hear from the either men as of writing this article, but everyone is waiting to hear from Tyson.
