Us football fans are stat obsessed nowadays. For better or for worse, and it is both in many ways, modern-day football culture demands every facet of a player's game be scrutinised in ever more detail.

Stats are certainly a brilliant indicator of performance and we've seen teams spend fortunes bringing in the best analysts to give them that extra bit of knowledge and therefore competitive edge on the field.

Fortunately, fans also get access to plenty of that data and we can use it to formulate debates and make awful attempts at building the best fantasy football teams we can muster - and usually, we need all the help we can get...

So, with that in mind, let's broaden your knowledge that bit more with another intriguing Premier League statistic.

Players with the most errors leading to an opposition shot since the start of 2020/21 season (outfield only)

It most likely won't be overly surprising for you to see two Manchester United players topping the list. Harry Maguire really has been enduring a punishing spell of form since the Euros and he tops the chart with seven direct errors leading to a shot in his last 62 league appearances.

Nemanja Matic occupies second spot and his ratio of six errors in just 39 games really is shocking, the former Serbian international has announced his imminent departure at the end of this season and with those stats you can't imagine too many complaints amongst United fans.

Surprisingly, Arsenal centre-back Gabriel takes the final podium place. The Brazilian international has built up quite the reputation amongst the Gunners fanbase, who perceive him to be a top-notch defender. Maybe that needs to be re-assessed moving forward...

Progressing down the list further, we have Davinson Sanchez, Adam Webster, Luke Ayling, Tyrone Mings and James Tarkowski level on five errors each. Although, five errors in 35 games from Sanchez makes for awful reading if you are a Spurs fan.

And finally, we have two more Manchester United players to round off on, with Luke Shaw and Aaron wan-Bissaka tied on four errors each.
