Leeds will look to sign a new centre-back this summer, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The Yorkshire giants have made significant improvements under Jesse Marsch, but they still have the worst defensive record in the Premier League.

What's the latest news involving Leeds?

Leeds might have conceded 68 goals in their 32 Premier League matches, but Marsch's arrival has brought a stability to their defensive line.

Having found their feet following defeats in Marsch's first two fixtures in charge, the Whites have collected 10 points from their last four top-flight games, shipping just four goals in the process.

Leeds' recent defensive improvements have also been helped by Marsch having Liam Cooper back at his disposal for the first time since December, while Diego Llorente has also shaken off his recent problems to start the last four games.

Despite those two forming a solid partnership at the back, Marsch is still short of centre-backs, with Pascal Struijk and Robin Koch the only others in his squad.

Therefore, O'Rourke reckons that it's a position the American manager will hope to improve when the window reopens for business in the coming months.

What did O'Rourke say about Leeds' centre-back situation?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "It's definitely a position Leeds will be looking to strengthen this summer. We all know how many goals they've conceded this season, it's been way too many.

"That's not just down to injuries, they've been way too open as well, so they'll be looking to bolster their defensive options in the summer transfer window."

Which centre-backs have Leeds been linked with?

With Marsch now in the dugout, Leeds' transfer strategy could change compared to when Marcelo Bielsa was in charge.

Ironically, though, they were already targeting one of Marsch's former players even before he was appointed as manager, with RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol on their radar long before his arrival.

The report says that the Croatian defender could cost Leeds up to £27m, although they face stiff competition for his signature with Tottenham also interested in his services this summer.

Joe Rodon could become another option for Leeds, who were linked with the Wales international in January, although Spurs decided against letting him leave.

However, with Antonio Conte set to sign at least one new centre-back this summer, the Telegraph believe that Tottenham are now open to offers for the ex-Swansea man ahead of the window.
