Lando Norris has said that he is very happy with how his qualifying went and that he felt he could have perhaps even done more than his P3 position.

McLaren appear to be enjoying a resurgence with both cars scoring points in Australia, and Norris has continued on that feeling so far this weekend in Imola.

Indeed, he'll start P3 for Saturday's Sprint and has both Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc in his sights, so it should be a fun charge down to turn one later on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking on Friday, meanwhile, Norris revealed he felt he could have perhaps gone even faster than he did:

“Very happy. P3, which I’m a bit surprised by but I think a lot of other people made some mistakes and we took advantage of that. To be honest, I made quite a few mistakes as well.

"There was a chance we maybe could have done a little bit better, I think there was a bit left in it at the end and it would have been nice to go for that lap and attack one more time, but I just made a mistake and caught the white line. Apart from that, I’m happy and in a good position for tomorrow.”

For McLaren fans, this is undoubtedly a happy sight to see.

It wasn't so long ago that they looked arguably the slowest car on the grid, with them having a torrid time at the Bahrain Grand Prix at the start of the season, with both Norris and Daniel Ricciardo finishing well outside of the points.

A lot of work appears to have been done by the McLaren team on the car, though, and so Norris will be eager to try and repay his team with some good points this weekend.
