The Battle of Britain takes place at Wembley Stadium this evening and fans are preparing it to be one of the biggest all-British heavyweight fights in the history of boxing.
You know it’s a big sporting event when a supercomputer has been asked to work out its prediction, and that’s exactly what has happened for tonight’s bout.
The 34-year-old Brixton-born fighter comes into the fight as the underdog and is looking to snatch the WBC heavyweight world title from Fury’s grasps.
Whyte has been patiently waiting for his shot at the world title and will now get his chance in front of a packed-out Wembley Stadium.
Unfortunately for him, though, the Sporting Index engine uses numbers to analyse both fighters and to Fury’s delight, it predicts that he will retain his title and secure triumph 26 minutes in.
This aligns to a ninth-round stoppage for the Gypsy King.
Tyson Fury has vowed, regardless of the outcome of the fight, to step away from his public life and retire from boxing, stating that he’s happy to return to Morecambe and live a private life.
“I’m gonna delete my Instagram, I’m getting away from being a ‘star’. I want to be left alone to live my normal little life, pathetic life I live in Morecambe Bay – going to school, taking out the bins, getting a haircut, valeting the car, going out once a week and training every day.
“Win, lose or draw on Saturday night they’ll be no more fights.”
Prior to their fight, both fighters met face-to-face, and things remained civil and respectful, despite John Fury attempting to start an altercation between both teams.
The champion even became embarrassed following an accidental gaffe when publicly outing his and Whyte’s very close relationship.
“We were good friends together, we went out for а drink, we ate together, we slept together,” Fury said, describing the closeness of their relationship.
Whyte then chipped in: “We never slept together!”
So far it’s been friendly, but tonight, it’s got to get vicious at some point!
