Ferrari's Mattia Binotto says Carlos Sainz just needs to manage the pressure a bit better at the moment, with him making a mistake in qualifying for the Imola Grand Prix.

The Spaniard signed a new contract with the Scuderia earlier this week but came down to Earth with a bump on Friday as he crashed out in Q2 in the wet conditions, meaning he now will start the Sprint from P10 today.

That follows a retirement at the Australian Grand Prix last time out after a mistake from the Ferrari man, and Binotto says that it is just a case of managing pressure a little more, rather than there being any really big issues.

"I don't think there are issues. Certainly, he needs to adapt. He has done a couple of mistakes which are important," Binotto said in this morning's FIA press conference at Imola.

"But nevertheless I think he is improving himself, he is going faster and faster and if I look [at qualifying] when he was driving, he was driving fast.

"When he went off, I think it was not the right time to push to the limit, he knows very well and I think that is the matter of managing the pressure.

"It is maybe the first time in his career that he has got a car that is fast enough to compete for the best positions.

"He simply needs to get used to that but he will do it very quickly because I know how smart and how capable he is to manage the pressure."
