Manchester United's hopes of finishing in the top-four next season were dealt another hammer blow by Arsenal on Saturday.

United fell to a 3-1 defeat at the Emirates, leaving them six points adrift of their opponents having played a game more.

Even interim manager Ralf Rangnick believes the club's hopes of playing Champions League football is now over.

When asked whether United can finish fourth this season, the German was realistic in his assessment.

"Pretty sure for me," he admitted to BT Sport. "Even before that game, it was not very likely, but after this result top four is gone, yes."

But whether or not the Red Devils will finish in the top-four wasn't the only difficult question Rangnick was asked about during his post-match interview.

While appearing as a pundit for DAZN before the match on Saturday, club legend Paul Scholes revealed the damning conversation he had with Jesse Lingard this week.

"It's a disaster of a dressing room," Scholes told. "I had a quick chat with Jesse (Lingard) the other day and I'm sure he won't mind me saying... the dressing room is just a disaster."

Actually, we think Lingard will mind you throwing him under the bus, Paul.

Rangnick was asked about those comments to which he replied: “I don’t know, you have to ask Jesse Lingard. Obviously, after games like today, there is massive disappointment in the locker room. This is for me normal.”

All is not well at Manchester United, is it?

Lingard's career at the club appears to be coming to an end with his current contract expiring in the summer.

The 29-year-old came off the bench for the final 13 minutes against Arsenal but couldn't do anything to prevent his side losing yet again.

It completes a miserable week following their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday.

The sooner the season ends, the better as far as Manchester United are concerned.
