World number one Iga Świątek has reached the final of the Stuttgart Open after winning a thrilling battle against Ludmilla Samsonova.

She will feature in her fourth consecutive tournament final tomorrow and will be looking to add to her impressive trophy count this year.

The Polish star came from behind against Samsonova to win 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 after more than three hours on the court.

It was an incredible display from the two women — both completely emptied the tank and put in a spectacular performance throughout the entirety of their meeting.

The match was almost impossible to predict right from the start, but it was the new world number one who emerged victorious after an inspired comeback.

Świątek will face Aryna Sabalenka in the last round of the tournament tomorrow afternoon.

The road to the final

Świątek is currently in the form of her life and has extended her winning streak to 22 matches. She will be vying for another trophy after already scooping the Qatar Open, Indian Wells and Miami Open titles this year.

Carrying the momentum of her three title wins, the Pole breezed past her first opponent in the Stuttgart Open.

A 6-1, 6-1 thrashing over Germany's Eva Lys set her up for a tasty meeting with British number one Emma Raducanu.

The US Open champion put in a strong performance, but the in-form Świątek once again showed why she is at the top of the world rankings. Another straight set win (6-4, 6-4) put Świątek into the semi-final, where she was put through her paces by Samsonova.

Sabalenka's route to the Stuttgart Open final has not been a simple one. In all of her matches so far she has been pushed to her limits.

After a 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 win over Canada's Bianca Andreescu, the world number four faced Anett Kontaveit of Estonia, where the match also boiled down to a deciding set.

Once again, Sabalenka's opponent got the better of her in the second set but she managed to secure the victory with 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 on the board.

Although she won her semi-final match in straight sets, Spain's Paula Badosa made sure she kept Sabalenka on her toes throughout.

A slim 7-6, 6-4 win saw the 23-year-old progress into her first final since the Madrid Open in May 2021, where she beat former world number one Ashleigh Barty.

Sabalenka and Świątek will face off at 12.00 GMT tomorrow afternoon. With both players inside the top five, it will certainly be a final to behold.
