Formula 1 fans rejoiced this weekend as the popular cool down room made a return after Sunday's Imola GP.

For the first time since 2019, when the covid pandemic put a stop to it, F1 fans were treated to the top three finishers sitting down and sharing thoughts about the race.

It was a dramatic weekend in Italy from Friday to Sunday, with each session providing great excitement.

World champion Max Verstappen finished first in qualifying, first in the Sprint and first in the race itself, cutting the deficit on his main competitor Charles Leclerc.

He was joined in the cool down room by Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez as the team secured a comfortable 1-2 finish following the Ferrari man's mistake.

Third in the mix was McLaren's Lando Norris, who shook off the disappointment of the first two races in particular and surprised himself with a podium, to build on a good result in Australia last time out.

The trio discussed Leclerc, who missed out on the podium as he desperately pushed for second place, leading to a mistake in the closing stages, costing him valuable points as he finished sixth.

The Mexican "Minister of Defence" can be heard talking about how fast Leclerc was through the chicane, implying he was taking a lot of risk which ultimately proved costly to him.

There have been quite a few memorable moments from the cool down room in the past, with big rivalries between drivers and fresh emotions on show.

Notable ones are exchanges between teammates Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton during their battles for the championship and similarly between Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.

Kimi Raikkonen hilariously walked into the room back in the 2017 American GP to inform Verstappen that he had gotten a time penalty and lost the podium as a result.

Fans will be hopeful of more great moments arising from the cool down room in the future with the inaugural Miami GP coming up next.
