W Series has announced a multiyear broadcast partnership with Sky Sports, starting with coverage of the 2022 season.

The subscription sports channel will air all ten races on this year's calendar, including the qualifying sessions across the upcoming eight Grand Prix weekends.

The deal represents W Series’ largest media investment to date and will run until the end of the 2024 season.

W Series, the all-female racing championship, has skyrocketed in popularity since its maiden season in 2019.

After the 2020 campaign was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Championship returned the following year and linked up with Formula 1 for the first time.

The partnership saw W Series travel to some of the world's most famous circuits as the women raced on the undercard of the F1 Grand Prix weekends.

The dazzling new racing calendar took the Championship to a new level — and given fans also able to attend, the passion for women's motorsport spiked dramatically.

Races were hosted at the likes of Silverstone and the Circuit of the Americas, where the thrilling 2021 double-header finale took place.

In 2019, the W Series was the second most-watched women’s sport in the UK behind football. With this new Sky Sports partnership, the aim is to continue to grow the Championship and increase the footprint of coverage.

The W Series will join Sky's growing portfolio of elite women's sports, including England football's top flight, the FA Women's Super League.

"In addition to Sky Italia and Sky Deutschland, Sky Sports are delighted to be growing our motorsport
portfolio with this recently established elite women’s series," said Sky Sports Managing Director Jonathan Licht.

"It feels like Sky Sports is a natural home for W Series, given we have such a dedicated motorsport audience and a dedicated motorsport genre channel."

Channel 4 will also have broadcasting rights — it will air the fourth round British Grand Prix at Silverstone and will also show race highlights throughout the season.

The first round of the 2022 W Series season will be the Miami Grand Prix, which will take place across 6-8 May.
