Transfer insider Pete O'Rourke believes Tottenham could rekindle their interest in Barcelona winger Adama Traore this summer.

The Spaniard, who was heavily linked with a move to north London back in January, recently joined Barcelona on loan from Wolves, but there are doubts about whether the La Liga side can afford to buy him permanently.

What is the latest news involving Traore?

As per Sky Sports, Barcelona have the option to sign Traore for £29m at the end of his loan spell. However, club president Joan Laporta has suggested that they may not be able to stump up the cash for the 26-year-old.

“Adama has Barca DNA. He’s one of the best forwards in the world; he’s fast,” Laporta said last month (via The Independent). "We’d love Adama Traore to stay here. It’s possible - but we’re in a difficult financial situation. We’ll see at the end of the season.”

It could give Tottenham the chance to finally sign Traore after targeting him in the last transfer window, with SPORT claiming that they are monitoring his current situation.

According to The Times, Antonio Conte identified the Spain international as someone who could solve the team's wing-back issue, while sources told GIVEMESPORT that Spurs were willing to make him one of the highest-paid players at the club.

What has O'Rourke said about Traore and Tottenham?

O'Rourke does not think Traore has a future at Wolves and has suggested that Tottenham could make a fresh move for the former Middlesbrough man in the summer if Barcelona do not take up their option to buy.

Speaking to GMS, the football journalist said: "It's going to be interesting to see if maybe Spurs rekindle their interest in Traore. I think, for now, Wolves are planning life without Adama Traore long term."

Will Tottenham really try to sign Traore again?

It would not be a surprise if they did make another attempt in the upcoming transfer window. With just one year to run on his contract from June, Traore is almost certain to be available if Barcelona do not sign him, while Conte clearly seems to be a fan of the player.

It is also common knowledge that the Italian is looking to strengthen in the wing-back positions. According to The Telegraph, he wants up to six new signings this summer, including someone who can play on the right side of his backline.

Whether Conte gets all of that remains to be seen, but Traore, who was once described as "unplayable" by Jurgen Klopp, certainly seems like a realistic target given the predicament that he is in.
