Ultimate UFC comeback

In 2021, Meatball was faced with the pressure of not just fighting for a win, but for her UFC career. Coming off the back of two losses, everything was riding on her performance against Ji Yeon Kim in Las Vegas.

McCann's contract was due to expire after her meeting with the South Korean, so a win was an absolute must.

Knowing exactly what was at stake, Meatball started explosively and got stuck straight in. She kept up a fast, aggressive tempo to keep Kim on her toes, breaking momentum only briefly when the two clashed heads.

The fight went right to the final bell, but McCann's crescendo of blows in the final seconds carved the writing on the wall and she won via unanimous decision. The Scouser was back on top, and both she and Kim scooped the $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus for their thrilling display.

Iconic knockout

After her victory in Sin City, McCann returned home to prepare to make history.

Her fight against Luana Caroline marked a huge milestone in the sport — the first time a women's match had featured on the main card of a UFC London event.

Meatball marked the occasion in style and went on to hand her Brazilian opponent her first loss via knockout after dispatching a brutal spinning back elbow to send her crashing to the canvas.

Yet another bonus came McCann's way after her sensational knockout — she picked up the Performance of the Night award after her dominant display and her win was already being considered for Knockout of the Year.

Thanks to her iconic comeback, McCann recently revealed she no longer has to worry about her financial situation. She told GiveMeSport that she is "taken care of really well by the promotion" and only worries about dodging punches now as opposed to her income.

BT Sport recently released a documentary on Meatball's inspiring journey to the top, which can be watched via the website or app.
