West Ham United boss David Moyes 'has been in the market for a striker' and is an admirer of Blackburn Rovers hotshot Ben Brereton Diaz, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The Hammers are preparing to face Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi-finals of the Europa League on Thursday, but it seems that has not stopped Moyes looking ahead to the summer transfer window.

What's the latest news involving Brereton Diaz?

According to respected Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Moyes is looking to take advantage of the free agent market and Brereton-Diaz is among those the Scotsman is keeping a close eye on.

West Ham were also linked with the Blackburn man during the January transfer window, but a move away from Ewood Park failed to materialise.

The Hammers are not the only club eager to offer Brereton Diaz a route into the Premier League as Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and strugglers Everton are also keeping tabs on his situation.

Brereton Diaz's Blackburn career is set to come to a close as his contract is due to expire in the summer.

The 23-year-old's hopes of walking away having guided the former Premier League champions back into the top flight are currently on a knife-edge as Tony Mowbray's side are three points adrift of the Championship's play-off places.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about Brereton Diaz?

O'Rourke understands that Moyes has set his sights on welcoming a frontman to the London Stadium when the transfer window reopens.

The journalist also believes the West Ham chief is a fan of Brereton Diaz - who has been described as a 'beast' by Blackburn boss Mowbray - and, as a result, could look to win the race for his signature.

O'Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: "We know David Moyes has been in the market for a striker and he does like Ben Brereton Diaz at Blackburn as well."

Why is Brereton Diaz of interest to West Ham?

Brereton Diaz has scored 39 goals over the course of his senior club career, with 21 of those efforts coming this season, emphasising that this has been somewhat of a breakthrough campaign for the frontman.

The 23-year-old's prolific form has also resulted in him earning international recognition, with him moving onto 12 caps for Chile and finding the back of the net four times.

Jarrod Bowen has racked up 24 goals and 21 assists since moving to east London from Hull City for £22million, demonstrating that Moyes has enjoyed success when clinching the services of some of the best talent in the Championship.
