Arsenal could sign Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

With both Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette out of contract at the end of the season, the Brazil international has been heavily linked with a summer move to the Emirates Stadium.

What's the latest news involving Jesus?

According to The Athletic, Mikel Arteta's side are 'exploring the possibility' of bringing Jesus to north London this season following his lack of opportunities for the Premier League leaders.

Jesus, described as "incredible" by Pep Guardiola last season, scored four times in City's demolition of Watford on Saturday to take his tally for the club to 93 goals in all competitions.

However, the 25-year-old, has started just over half of City's Premier League games this season despite being the only recognised striker on their books following Sergio Aguero's departure in 2021.

The report says that discussions with Arsenal's technical director Edu and Jesus' representatives have been taking place for a number of months, with Jesus open to the idea of signing for the Gunners having previously worked with Arteta when he was Guardiola's assistant at City.

However, while Jones has failed to rule out Jesus becoming an Arsenal player in the next window, he believes that the deal isn't at as an advanced stage as some reports suggest.

What did Jones say about Jesus?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "There's a possibility that he ends up there. I think the stories linking him to Arsenal probably went a bit further than the truth lies."

Would Jesus be a good signing for Arsenal?

When Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club in January, they probably had higher hopes than Jesus, especially considering they were linked with Dusan Vlahovic in the same window.

But should the Brazilian frontman opt to reunite with Arteta at the Emirates, the Gunners would be getting a proven Premier League goalscorer with plenty of Champions League experience, which could prove crucial if they pip Tottenham to fourth and return to Europe's elite competition.

In 155 appearances, many of which have come from the bench, in England's top-flight, Jesus has chipped in with 57 goals and 32 assists, while his Champions League record stands at better than one goal every other game with 19 in 36 outings.

Therefore, should he become an Arsenal player this summer, while he might not be the big name that some were hoping for, he would definitely be an upgrade on what Arteta currently has at his disposal.
