Tottenham Hotspur are 'reasonably confident' that Antonio Conte will still be in charge next season despite fears that he will walk away if his ambitions are not met, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Conte was appointed as Spurs' head coach last November, with the Italian replacing Nuno Espirito Santo after his woeful four-month reign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium came to an end.

What's the latest news involving Conte?

Conte may have penned a contract lasting until the end of next season, with the agreement offering the option of an extension, but there have been question marks over where his long-term future lies.

Fears over the 52-year-old potentially walking away from Tottenham have been heightened after French media outlet Le Parisien, via Get French Football News, revealed he has already told Paris Saint-Germain that he would be willing to head to the Ligue 1 giants on a two-year deal at the end of the campaign.

The report suggests Conte has reached out to PSG's cash-rich owners with former Spurs chief Mauricio Pochettino set to be sacked.

RMC Sport have claimed Conte would be seeking a contract worth £25million in order to head to PSG, meaning they will have to nearly double his pay package in north London.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly irritated by continued speculation over Conte's future and whether Pochettino could head in the opposite direction back to the Premier League side.

What has Dean Jones said about Conte?

Jones believes Conte would not hesitate in quitting Tottenham if he feels the club are not able to match his ambition.

However, the transfer insider understands the key decision-makers behind the scenes at Hotspur Way are expecting the six-time league title-winning boss to still be at the helm by the time next season gets underway.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "If they cannot satisfy him, he will walk away. That's the kind of man he is - he would walk away from that job.

"As it is right now, Tottenham are planning for him to be their manager, though. Pre-season plans are in place, they are getting their shortlist ready for transfers and they're reasonably confident that he will be staying, especially if they do manage to nick that top four spot."

How have Spurs performed since Conte's appointment?

Conte took over a Spurs side bereft of confidence after securing just nine wins in 17 matches under former boss Nuno.

It resulted in the north Londoners' hopes of qualifying for the Champions League seemingly being in tatters, but Conte has got Tottenham into a position where they will finish in the Premier League's top four if they win their remaining five fixtures.

Spurs have won 17 of their 31 encounters since Conte headed to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium dugout.
