There are few things that grabs the attention of football fans the way a new kit release does.

We love to pass judgement on the latest designs and trends in the industry, not to mention get a sneak peek at the strip our gladiators will be wearing into battle next season.

And Manchester City fans you are in luck, because it seems like you have been treated to an extra early snapshot of your away kit for next year.

Rumours have been circulating for a while now that the Citizens will be brandishing the more traditional colour scheme of red and black on their away design and those rumours have just been confirmed with release of these images today.

Check out the leaked kit below - it looks to be a bit of a banger...

The new kit will rock the red, black and tango colour scheme.

Red and black is a traditional colour scheme for Man City away kits and they last donned the colours in the 2011-2012 season with Umbro.

However, they also wore the black and red shirt in 1969 and 1970 when they won the FA Cup, League Cup, and European Cup Winners Cup - serious heritage right there.

Interestingly, the colour scheme is identical to that of the one Puma use on the AC Milan home kits, the difference being that black is the primary colour rather than red, in this case.

Another notable inclusion are the diagonal stripes flashing across the kit which give it a more modern and fresher appeal than your old school vertical line design.

For comparison, this was the old City away kit of 2011/2012 in action:
