Former Burnley manager Sean Dyche does not really "fit the mould" for Everton owner Farhad Moshiri, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Current Toffees boss Frank Lampard finds himself in big trouble, with the Merseyside club currently in the relegation zone, and Jones has been discussing the possibility of Dyche taking over.

Is Lampard's future at Everton in doubt?

It has to be. Everton are in serious danger of going down, while Lampard only arrived at Goodison Park on a two-and-a-half-year contract, which suggests that the Everton board may only see him as a short-term appointment.

In fact, Jones has previously told GIVEMESPORT that there is a break clause in Lampard's deal that allows the Toffees to sack him at the end of the season without paying a single penny in compensation.

Everton are obviously not there yet, as there are still games left before the campaign concludes, giving Lampard's men the chance to remain in the Premier League.

But there is no denying that things right now are not looking good for the former Chelsea manager and his side.

What has Jones said about Everton's manager situation?

If Lampard were to be sacked, one person who Everton could turn to is Dyche following his recent dismissal from Burnley. Jones, however, does not think the 50-year-old, who has managed 474 games, fits the mould for Moshiri.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the insider said: "I see people are starting to talk about Sean Dyche as a potential option for Everton. Typically, he wouldn't really fit the mould.

"Moshiri likes to be ambitious and go for managers of profile and a certain elegance when it comes to the Premier League and world football status."

Would Dyche be a suitable replacement for Lampard?

Dyche is certainly not as high profile as former Everton managers Rafael Benitez and Carlo Ancelotti, but that should not put Moshiri off, especially if the Toffees are condemned to the Championship.

While he had a difficult season this term, Dyche did a great job at Turf Moor having kept Burnley in the Premier League for this long.

That, and the fact that he has won promotion to English football's top flight before, makes him an ideal candidate for the Everton gig if Lampard is sacked.

With all of that being said, an argument can easily be made for why Lampard should be retained even if the Merseyside outfit are relegated. The club was a mess when he got there, so surely he deserves time to try and fix all of the damage that has been done at Goodison Park in recent years.

The England legend also came very close to winning promotion with Derby County back in the 2018/19 season. With Everton's resources, there is every chance he could go all the way with them.

As football is a ruthless business, though, relegation would probably bring Lampard's short tenure at Everton to a swift end.
