Tottenham: Antonio Conte could bring in 'multiple signings' at Hotspur Way

Tottenham could sign six players this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Antonio Conte will be hoping to stamp his authority on the squad in the upcoming transfer window and a recent report has suggested that the Italian manager wants up to new six additions.

What’s the latest news involving Tottenham?

According to the Telegraph, Conte has told sporting director Fabio Paratici and chairman Daniel Levy that he needs six players in the summer to be able to compete on two fronts in the Premier League and in Europe.

Conte brought in Juventus pair Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski in January, but Spurs lost four players on deadline day and could shift the likes of Sergio Reguilon, Emerson Royal, Joe Rodon, Harry Winks, meaning summer additions are badly needed.

Do you know this obscure player Tottenham signed in the January transfer window?

The report says that Conte wants to sign a backup goalkeeper, a centre-back, right wing-back, two centre midfielders and an understudy to Harry Kane.

Tottenham signed seven players in the summer window in 2020 and six when Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge.

And Jones reckons there’s a “realistic” chance that Conte could get his way in what could be another huge summer at Hotspur Way.

What did Jones say about Tottenham?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think they know where they stand, you’ve only got to have watched the season unfold to know that if they make the top four, they would have scrapped the top four.

“They know the teams behind them; Manchester United, Arsenal and West Ham are going to strengthen in the summer, so you can’t stand still.

“They already had a couple of glaring holes in the squad that need to be filled, so six to me does seem quite realistic and I think they’ll be fine with that.”

Which players have Tottenham been linked with?

In terms of a backup goalkeeper, Sky Sports believe that Spurs are chasing Sam Johnstone, although they face competition from Manchester United for signature.

Meanwhile, Djed Spence is the right wing-back on Tottenham’s radar, while the centre-backs they’re keen on are European quartet Josko Gvardiol, Alessandro Bastoni, Sven Botman and Nico Schlotterbeck.

Moving forward, the Telegraph believe that Conte’s side are interested in midfield pair Christian Eriksen and Youri Tielemans, while the Tottenham boss is hoping to bring in a backup striker to Kane, with Andrea Belotti and Lautaro Martinez amongst those being touted.
