Former UFC fighter Dan Hardy has joked about the possibility of billionaire Elon Musk buying the promotion after his recent Twitter deal.
For those who donât know, Elon Muskâs $44 billion bid to buy Twitter was accepted by the board earlier this week. If it officially goes through, the 50-year-old will add the social media platform to the growing list of companies heâs associated with including SpaceX, Tesla and The Boring Company.
Dan Hardy, meanwhile, is a former UFC fighter and commentator who left in search of pastures new last year. The decision was one that many questioned with Hardy himself searching for answers regarding the move and why exactly it happened.
Now, on the heels of this news about Musk, Hardy has joked that the entrepreneur should look towards investing in mixed martial arts.
While it may be a comment that was made in an amusing way, it definitely seems like thereâs still some lingering tension between Hardy and his former employers - indicating that a return wonât be on the cards anytime soon.
Given what heâs currently doing, though, âThe Outlawâ probably isnât even that interested in heading back.
The next step for Dan Hardy
The former welterweight title contender has been going in search of different opportunities outside the UFC ever since his tenure there came to an end. After playing around with the idea of fighting in multiple disciplines, heâs finally landed on an exhibition boxing match against Diego Sanchez.
The contest will take place over eight rounds and itâll go down in Manchester, England on July 2. The card will be headlined by the return of the great Ricky Hatton who will be making his final appearance inside the squared circle, 10 years after his last fight in the very same arena.
A lot of fans may not feel like Hardy has a lot to prove but the 39-year-old is heading into this challenge with the right mindset. He wants to show that even after all this time, heâs still a dangerous man for anyone to contend with.
If he finishes Sanchez, who knows where heâll go from there.
