Former two-weight UFC champion Henry Cejudo has revealed when he’ll be ready to get back into the Octagon after a meeting with the UFC brass.

For a long time now fans have been watching and waiting to see whether or not Henry Cejudo would return to mixed martial arts. The man known as ‘Triple C’ walked away from the sport back in 2020 after defeating Dominick Cruz, successfully retaining his UFC bantamweight championship in the process.

The champ went on to tease a comeback in the months and years since UFC 249 until finally, just a few short weeks ago, he confirmed that he would be re-entering the USADA testing pool ahead of jumping back into the cage.

The big question ever since then has been focused on who his opponent is going to be and what division he’s going to re-enter.

During a recent episode of his podcast alongside The Schmo, the Olympian provided some more details about how things are progressing.

“I think there’s two weight classes that are really open, and I want to take a stab at either one of them. There’s T.J. [Dillashaw], there’s Aljalame [Sterling], there’s [Max] Holloway, and [Alexander] Volkanovski. The terrain is pretty nice man, I’m sitting in a pretty good position right now. We talked over dinner, we were there for a couple of hours because we had a lot to talk about. To say the least, it was a great meeting.”

“35 or 45, a lot of those decisions aren’t done yet. I want to see what is going to end up happening, but they love the comeback. They want me back, they would never have dinner with me if they didn’t want me back. I think for my next meeting, I’d love to meet with Dana White.”

Who will he pick?

As of this writing, Aljamain Sterling is the UFC bantamweight champion and Alexander Volkanovski holds the gold at featherweight. The former doesn’t have an opponent scheduled but isn’t likely to wait six months to fight again, whereas Volkanovski is expected to defend the 145-pound strap against Max Holloway in a trilogy bout.

So, to sum up, Cejudo may have to reanalyse and see what the landscape is like once we get closer to October.
