A video posted by Michael Benson on Twitter throws back to Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder before the weigh-in for their rematch in October 2021.The video from Premier Boxing and Top Rank Boxing sees the pair watching one another on the live stream backstage in their dressing rooms before they came out to the scales. Despite the pressure around the fight, the pair were happy to engage in some pre-show joking to lighten the mood.Upon realising they were both watching the stream, Fury playfully waved and blew kisses to Wilder, who was cuddled up with his fiancé Telli Swift. In response, Wilder scratched his face whilst unsubtly flashing his middle finger. The Gypsy King took the antics further when he then imitated the loved-up pair by cosying up to his brother Shane on the couch. The back-and-forth caused laughter amongst onlookers in the crowd and commentary box.The fight that followed saw Fury completely dominate the Bronze Bomber with knockdowns in rounds three and five before Wilder’s trainer Mark Breland threw the towel in in the seventh round, meaning Fury claimed victory.

Following his UK homecoming last Saturday night, Fury reiterated his intention to hang up his gloves for good and it is possible that Wilder could quickly take his place.

Following a remarkable sixth-round knockout win over Dillian Whyte, Fury told onlookers that he would definitely be stepping away from the ring.

Wilder is currently the number one ranked WBC contender, meaning that he would be in line to fight for the vacant belt should Fury’s retirement become official.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman has said that he expects Wilder to return to the boxing world soon and so all eyes will be on the ring to see if the American can live up to Fury’s lasting legacy.
