West Ham have been tipped to show an interest in Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis this summer if the Hornets go down, by former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer.

Things are currently looking bleak for Roy Hodgson's side as they seem likely to return to the Championship just one year after being promoted to the top-flight.

What's the latest news involving Dennis?

With Watford currently nine points adrift of safety, the odds are stacked against them in terms of staying in the Premier League.

Dennis has impressed from an individual perspective, though, scoring 10 league goals in his maiden campaign in England.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, and he has been linked with a potential move to West Ham - it is understood that he is valued around the £30m mark by Watford.

What has Palmer said about Dennis's future?

Palmer thinks a number of English clubs will be monitoring Dennis this summer if Watford's relegation is confirmed in the coming weeks.

He expects West Ham to be one of the teams to consider making a move for him.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Palmer said: “If Watford go down, then there’ll be quite a few players that a lot of clubs will be interested in. Emmanuel Dennis will be one of those that I’d have thought that a lot of Premier League clubs will be looking for.

“Their better players are going to be looked at by clubs like West Ham, and by clubs in the top six.”

Would Dennis be a good addition to West Ham's squad?

The burden on Michail Antonio has been huge ever since fellow forward Sebastien Haller departed West Ham to join Ajax in January 2020.

For the past 15 months, Antonio has been the only recognised striker that David Moyes can rely on, and he has done a fine job, both domestically and in Europe.

However, having turned 32 last month, Antonio would certainly benefit with some help up top, and Dennis could provide Moyes with a much-needed alternative option.

He has been praised by his former boss Claudio Ranieri for his directness, with the Italian coach stating back in November: "He’s fast, has good skill, always runs straight to the goal - I love these kinds of players."

The 24-year-old has also shown that he is capable of playing on either flank, suggesting that he could give the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals competition for their places if he moved to the London Stadium.

This added strength in depth would only be a good thing for the Irons as they look to prove that they can continue to compete on multiple fronts next season.
