Liverpool striker Divock Origi could make a late decision to sign a new contract as he has shown that he is 'happy' in his current Anfield role, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

There are question marks as to whether Origi will still be at Reds boss Jurgen Klopp's disposal by the time next season gets underway.

What's the latest news involving Origi?

As things stand, Origi has entered the final weeks of his Liverpool career as his £82,000-per-week contract is due to expire in the summer.

Uncertainty over the 32-cap Belgium international's long-term future has caught the eye of numerous clubs, with a queue forming for his signature.

West Ham United and Newcastle United are hopeful of keeping Origi in the Premier League, but it appears they are not the frontrunners.

That is because, according to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, the frontman is on the brink of securing a move to AC Milan.

The 27-year-old, who has been able to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas suitors since entering the final six months of his Anfield deal at the turn of the year, is understood to be on the verge of putting pen-to-paper at the San Siro.

What has Dean Jones said about Origi?

Jones believes Origi could make a last-minute U-turn and, instead of heading to Serie A, commit his long-term future to Liverpool.

The transfer insider also feels heading to Premier League rivals West Ham is not an attractive proposition for the Belgian.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "To be honest, I don't really see that that's a great move for Divock Origi at the moment.

"He's been happy, up to this point, with playing this role at Liverpool and it wouldn't surprise me if that continued to be the case."

Would Klopp be happy to keep Origi at Liverpool?

Klopp has committed his own future to Liverpool by penning a two-year contract extension - lasting until 2026 - earlier this week.

There is no doubt that the German would like to see Origi, who has won five trophies during his time on Merseyside, follow suit.

That became abundantly clear when Klopp described Origi as a ‘legend’, ‘world-class striker’ and Liverpool’s ‘best finisher’ after he came off the bench to score in last week's Merseyside derby win over Everton.

The Reds faithful would prefer to see Origi remain on the club's books instead of heading onto pastures new as well, with his six goals in 12 appearances against arch-rivals Everton being enough to write his name into Liverpool folklore.
