WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury looks set to take on UFC star Francis Ngannou in an exhibition fight described as 'the clash of the titans'. Following The Gypsy King's victory over Dillian Whyte last Saturday at Wembley Stadium, he announced that he is retiring from boxing, however the opportunity to face one of the heaviest hitters in the world could prove too enticing. Fury cruised to a sixth-round knockout win over Whyte in front of 94,000 in attendance at the national stadium and showed once again that his own punching power is massively underrated. It appears that although Fury is done with boxing, he certainly is not done with fighting, as in his post-fight speech he invited Ngannou into the ring to talk up about a potential fight. The heavyweight duo discussed hybrid rules for the exhibition match and Fury was as confident as ever that he would be the one to emerge victorious. "Yeah, I think it would be an exhibition fight,” he said to talkSPORT. "Great, great clash of the titans and obviously I would win.”

The 33-year-old is adamant that the uppercut that saw Whyte hit the canvas would be take out any man, including Ngannou as well as his other heavyweight rivals in Anthony Joshua Oleksandr Usyk.

“100 per cent, it would knock any man out. I don’t like comparing to former greats of the boxing game.

“It would knock anybody out, but that’s not comparing me to anybody else in history, just people from my era.”

However, any fight between the pair will not be able to take place until 2023 at the earliest as the UFC heavyweight king is tied down to a new contract for the next year.

Whether Fury will really stay retired from boxing is also up for debate but, for now, it looks like we may have seen the last of Gypsy King inside the squared circle.
