Cristiano Ronaldo: Slow-motion footage of Man Utd star's goal vs Chelsea

Where would Manchester United be this season without Cristiano Ronaldo?

On Thursday evening, the 37-year-old superstar rescued the Red Devils for the upmteenth time in 2021/22 with a brilliant goal against Chelsea.

Ronaldo’s strike came just two minutes after Marcos Alonso opened the scoring at Old Trafford and it earned United a 1-1 draw.

The marvellous strike by Ronaldo was his 17th in the Premier League, which has seen him move level with Heung-min Son in the standings.

Not bad for a player many foolishly labelled as ‘part of the problem’ at United, eh?

Ronaldo’s goal against Chelsea was certainly one of his best since returning to English football.

The Portugal international controlled Nemanja Matic’s lofted pass sublimely and he then fired the ball past Edouard Mendy on the half volley.

It was a work of art by Ronaldo and slow-motion footage of the goal perfectly illustrates just how beautiful it was.

Unsurprisingly, the footage below has gone viral on social media…

Unreal from Ronaldo.

That first touch might look easy to the naked eye, but everyone who has played the game at any level will know just how difficult it is to execute – especially with an opposing defender in close proximity.

The finish, well, it’s just world-class from the greatest goalscorer in history. As soon as he brought the ball down, you just knew the net was going to bulge.

What Ronaldo has achieved during 2021/22 so far in such a bad United team is quite extraordinary and incoming manager Erik ten Hag will surely be very eager to work with him next season.

If the current Ajax boss can find some players to provide adequate support for the former Real Madrid and Juventus striker, United may be a force to be reckoned with once again.
