Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay and General Manager Les Snead had a hilarious action to the New England Patriots' selection in the 1st round.

As has been established for some years with the Los Angeles Rams, 1st round draft picks don’t really mean a lot to them, having not used one since bringing in Jarod Goff #1 back in 2016.

Instead they have used them to bring in talent that have already established themselves in the league, and it’s fair to say it’s managed to pay off for them, making the Super Bowl back in 2019 before going one step further and winning it all last season.

Two of the players on that team that helped them do that? Jalen Ramsey who they traded for in 2019 and Matthew Stafford who they acquired last summer.

So it’s fair to say that they don’t really see a lot of value when it comes to picks early on in the draft.

But just because they were ‘off duty’ as it were without a pick to their name until the 3rd round later tonight, that doesn’t mean that they weren’t engaged with what was going on around the league.

And that was on full display last night as they saw who the New England Patriots were taking.

Less than impressed

With the 29th pick in the first round, the Patriots decided to take an offensive lineman, Cole Strange from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, a bit of an odd selection as there were some out there who didn’t value him anywhere near a first-round talent:

And nohere was that reaction more apparent than by McVay and Snead’s reaction when they saw it being announced, who they thought would still be available to them when they picked 104 with their first pick of the draft:

Now, to give credit to Bill Belichick, with 6 Super Bowl wins under his belt as head coach, he does kind of get a little bit of leeway when it comes to draft picks, he clearly knows what he’s doing.

But judging by McVay and Snead’s reaction, perhaps these are the first signs to show that the 70-year-old might not have that magic touch anymore.
