Cristiano Ronaldo has been at the heart of debate all season long at Manchester United. From the moment that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner put pen to paper on an Old Trafford return, there have been sections of the fanbase opining that it was a step in the wrong direction for the club.More vocal cohorts of the United support would even argue that the club wouldn't find themselves in their current predicament in a world where they turned down the chance to re-sign Ronaldo.

Is Ronaldo the problem at Man Utd?

Perhaps Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would still be in charge and leading the club towards Champions League qualification had Ronaldo not completed a crazy summer of incomings for the Red Devils.

At least, that's how the theory goes, but it is surely one that is receiving fewer and fewer subscribers as Ronaldo continues to score crucial goals in spite of all the hardships faced by United.

The simple fact of the matter is that the 37-year-old has still been nothing short of prolific despite United wading through one of the toughest spells in their recent history under Ralf Rangnick.

Ronaldo's superb goalscoring record

Astonishingly, Ronaldo has actually scored eight of United's last nine goals in the Premier League, including the last five on the bounce.

The Portuguese superstar notched hat-tricks against Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City, before reiterating his brilliance in big games by continuing his streak with goals in the Arsenal and Chelsea clashes.

Marry that to the fact that only Mohamed Salah has scored more goals in England's top-flight across the 2021/22 campaign and the argument that Ronaldo is the problem at United is certainly a dwindling one.

Mark Goldbridge dismantles Ronaldo claims

And the knives are well and truly out for the theory with The United Stand presenter Mark Goldbridge leading the charge this week, making a mockery of the anti-Ronaldo sentiments.

In a clip that has since gone viral across social media, the ever-entertaining United fan produced a brilliant workplace analogy to dismantle the idea that Ronaldo has been a negative influence at Old Trafford.

Laughing in the face of suggestions that Ronaldo should be the one to leave despite raising standards at the club, it's hard not to feel the love for United's No. 7 amidst such an impressive run of form.

And with hundreds and thousands of supporters sharing Goldbridge's breakdown of the situation, be sure to check out his argument against Ronaldo being the problem at United for yourselves down below:

Can we get a mic drop please?

Goldbridge certainly gives a convincing pitch against concerns that Ronaldo returning to the United dressing room has caused all of the club's behind-the-scenes problems and warrants his exit from the club.

It's hard not to crack a laugh when you hear Goldbridge comparing the situation to an office dispute where the raising of standards and quality bizarrely causes absolute carnage.

But there's more to the theory than that...

Now, look, the 'Ronaldo is the problem at United' argument is more complex than that and no doubt even Goldbridge himself broke down the situation in greater depth within the full video.

But it is worth saying, at least in passing, that some of the stronger arguments against Ronaldo are by no means attacking his performances and focus more on what his arrival signified for the club.

Like it or not, there is some degree of truth to the statement that Ronaldo's unexpected return to Old Trafford necessitated a deviation from the long-term plan that Solskjaer had been cooking up.

Does that mean that United are worse off for re-signing Ronaldo? Does that mean that they should have turned down the opportunity? The answers are impossible to know, but the questions are most certainly worth asking.

However, even if you're an ardent believer that Ronaldo has been the root of all evil at United this season, the one thing you can't deny is that he's at least brought goals, goals and more goals in spite of it all.
