Marvel's Spider-Man 2: Leaker Makes Huge Claims About Peter and Miles 'Switching'

Marvel Spider-Man 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is still quite a way off, but a leaker has now claimed that they have received information on how the switching mechanic between Peter Parker and Miles Morales will operate in the game.

Not a huge amount has been confirmed officially for the game thus far, with only a trailer having been released by Insomniac Games.

The claims were originally made on 4chan, so it is certainly worth taking these with more than a grain of salt, but they certainly make for intriguing reading.

Here’s everything that you need to know about the new claims that there will be a switching mechanic in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Switching Mechanic

A “leaker” recently claimed that they had access to an email sent out by Insomniac employees that they had found “on the dark web.”

A synopsis of the claims were posted on a Reddit thread, with the main takeaway being that players will apparently be able to play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales when the new game for PS5 is released:

“I think a few months ago someone came here saying that you will be able to play every mission as either Peter or Miles. This isn’t true, you will only be able to play all side missions as either, but you do switch between them often.

“Best way I can describe it is like Radiant Dawn or Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, in the latter’s case, every mission you play is done by a predetermined character (Gohan, Vegeta, Goku, piccolo, etc), and in between missions you can free roam and do side quests specific to that character.

“In SM2 main story missions are done by a predetermined character, but in between, you can free roam the whole map and do sidequests.”

Reactions

Redditors have been reacting to the claims on the thread, and many seem to be happy that Insomniac is apparently looking at the switching mechanic.

One player wrote: “That’s interesting if true. Definitely on board with the switching system. The only superhero game I remember doing that was Arkham City with Catwomen if I’m not mistaken and that was neat.

“But that part about a third character being able to kill seems iffy. Maybe if it’s tied to the story I understand, but being able to wipe out randoms seems unlikely given the age rating.”
