Bale accused of 'turning his back' on Real Madrid
Ahead of the match, Spanish newspaper Marca ran the headline âGareth Bale turns his back on Real Madridâ after the Wales international withdrew from the squad at the last minute due to back pain.
It was unclear whether Bale would be at the Bernabeu to cheer on his teammates and celebrate a potential third La Liga title, but the 32-year-old was nowhere to be seen.

Marca have described Baleâs no-show as an âugly gesture on a day of joy for the squad and for the fansâ.
They say that Baleâs back injury was âundetectableâ by Real Madridâs medical staff and add that the club âact with indifference to a player who is determined to go out the back doorâ.
Marca name Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Nacho and Eder Militao as players who were either injured or suspended but, unlike Bale, made the effort to attend the trophy celebrations.
Bale, who was filmed looking disconnected from his teammates after a dramatic 3-2 win over Sevilla on April 17, may not play for the Spanish club again.
His contract expires this summer and itâs unclear where heâll be playing his football ahead of the 2022 World Cup finals, which Wales are hoping to qualify for.
There's even been speculation that he may retire after the showpiece tournament.
