Ronnie OâSullivan has declared he has been wearing a mic for the duration of the World Snooker Championship as he revealed a deal for a Netflix-style documentary.
A camera crew has been following his every move at the Crucible in what will undoubtedly be an eagerly anticipated documentary on one of the sporting worldâs most entertaining and controversial figures.
The six-time champion booked his place in the final of the Worldâs defeating John Higgins 17â11, becoming the oldest finalist since Ray Reardon in 1982.Â
âThe Rocketâ now faces Judd Trump in pursuit of his seventh world championship, with his last Crucible win coming in 2020. Producers and fans will be praying he can land the title during filming.
All access on O'Sullivan
OâSullivan has granted all access to producers saying âYouâve got as much access as you need. If weâre going to do it letâs do it bloody good.â
OâSullivan wants his documentary to be like that of his heroâââBrazilian F1 legend Ayrton Senna. 2010 critically acclaimed movie âSennaâ won multiple awards in the âBest Documentaryâ and âBest Editingâ categories.
OâSullivan added âIt was quite inspiring to watch the Senna film. It was more about his human side. He was very focused on being the best. A born winner. I am not like that. I am more artistic.â
âWe are very different characters so itâs quite weird how I am drawn towards someone who is the opposite of me, but I loved him,â
No pressure felt by Ronnie
Most people could be forgiven for being nervous about being monitored 24/7 while bidding for a World Championship in their profession. However, in the true OâSullivan style, he insists there is no pressure.
OâSullivan claimed âIf Iâm going to get bombed out in the first round, I couldnât give a monkeys.
âThe documentary isnât about me trying to win a world title. If it happens, great. If not theyâll have to put up with a first-round exit. Theyâre the business guys behind it, Iâm just an actor.

âThe reason Iâm doing it is because of everything Iâve done in my past. Itâs a chance for people to watch someone theyâve followed for years.
âLet them see the pressure, the stress, the good and the not-so-good.â
OâSullivan has won six of his seven finals and will now look to emulate Scot Stephen Hendryâs haul of world titles.
However, OâSullivan insists he is not motivated by equalling the record and is not concerned with the comparisons.
"Seven, eight, nine, ten, they are just numbers to me,"
"If people want to talk about it, great, but I am just enjoying my life. Snooker is the least important thing in my life.
"I donât get tied into all these records and stuff. Life first, snooker after."

The final takes place over four sessions on Sunday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2.
