Brentford striker Ivan Toney would be a "very good signing" for Wolves this summer, claims journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Molineux, and O'Rourke has praised him for improving his all-round game.

What is the latest news involving Toney?

Last month, 90min reported that several Premier League clubs, including Wolves, are interested in signing Toney and are keeping an eye on him.

The same outlet claims, however, that the Englishman wants to sign a new deal at the Brentford Community Stadium to reflect his status as a proven top-flight player.

Toney has impressed this season in the Premier League following the Bees' promotion, scoring 12 goals in 29 appearances, which has taken his total career tally to 144 in 362.

It follows an incredible campaign in the Championship last term, where he managed to find the back of the net 33 times, including in the play-off final. Speaking about his leading centre-forward back then, manager Thomas Frank told West London Sport: "Ivan is a special, special player."

What has O'Rourke said about Toney and Wolves?

Given his goals this season and his overall improvement on the pitch, O'Rourke thinks Toney could be a shrewd addition for Wolves.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: "Ivan Toney, it's not just his goals. I think his all-round game's improved as well, so he could be a very good signing for someone like a Wolves this summer. He's going to be in demand from a number of clubs probably.

"Toney's come to the Premier League and stepped up to the plate. He's scored goals as well for Brentford and been key in helping them secure survival in their debut season in the Premier League."

Should Wolves make a move for Toney?

Wolves' current crop of strikers have had their difficulties this season, so up front is a position that Bruno Lage should be looking to strengthen.

Raul Jimenez is still trying to get back to his best after that head injury he suffered last term, with the Mexican recently switching to a lighter protective headband, while Fabio Silva has just not been able to make an impact in English football since his arrival back in 2020.

In total, the duo have just six goals in the Premier League combined this campaign, with none coming from Silva.

Toney has fared much better in front of goal and has been incredible in the air, so perhaps the Brentford man could provide Wolves with an upgrade.

Winning 4.5 aerial duels per game, only Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Chris Wood are averaging more (via WhoScored), showing the extent of Toney's aerial prowess.

All in all, Toney is a well-rounded centre-forward and could be a good option for Wolves or any other Premier League club looking for a new No.9 this summer, though you suspect Brentford will not want to let him go.
