Philadelphia Eagles centre Travis Kelce had a rather impressive reaction to news that came out of his team’s draft over the weekend.

This past weekend saw the NFL Draft take place in Las Vegas, an event that is all about the future as teams look to pick up players that can help guide them to a Super Bowl victory further down the line.

The Eagles had an incredibly busy time over the weekend, as not only did they manage to bring in 5 extra players to add to their squad through the draft, but they were also involved in a number of trades.

Not only did they maneuver themselves around the draft order, for instance jumping up in the first round to pick up defensive tackle Jordan Davis out of Georgia, but they also traded with the Tennessee Titans to pick up A.J Brown to add to their wide receiver core.

One man in, one man out?

However, it was their second-round pick that has caused something of an interesting story on social media surrounding veteran centre Jason Kelce, who has been on the Eagles roster since they picked him in 2011.

Kelce has been a reliable member of the offensive line in Philadelphia since that day, including their Super Bowl run in the 2017 season, after which he delivered one of the more impassioned speeches that a champion will ever give during their parade:

The Eagles decided to take Cam Jurgens from Nebraska, who also plays Kelce’s position of centre, which hints at the idea that they have already selected his replacement.

Taking it in his stride

Kelce was actually in a position to comment on the move instantly as he was talking on a draft show with Bleacher Report whilst the pick was taking place.

And rather than be annoyed with the fact that they appear to have drafted his replacement, in a very pleasant turn of events, it turned out that Kelce actually had a part in the pick from the beginning, as he noted he had been helping the Eagles look at centres for the past few years:

Which was certainly a more civilised way of reacting to the drafting of your potential replacement than say Aaron Rodgers did when the Green Bay Packers drafted Jordan Love a few years back.
