UFC star Nate Diaz has taken a shot at Charles Oliveira ahead of this weekendâs huge UFC 274 main event.
There are very few genuine superstars in the Ultimate Fighting Championship but if you were going to list them, Nate Diaz would definitely have to feature. He may not be at the same level he was back in 2016, but the Stockton king still knows and understands how to get people talking about him.
His last outing inside the Octagon took place last summer when he fell to a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Leon Edwards. Ever since then, heâs been teasing the idea of having another fight - which would serve as the final bout on his current UFC deal.
Itâs no secret that he doesnât have the best relationship with the promotion but heâs definitely open to proving himself against some of the very best, whether it be at welterweight or lightweight.
The champion of the latter division, Charles Oliveira, seems to have caught the eye of Diaz this week as the countdown to Saturday nightâs mammoth PPV card in Phoenix continues.
In the following tweets, Diaz highlights footage of Oliveira suffering stoppage losses to Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis, two men Nate has beaten in the past.
UFC 274 awaits
This weekend, Charles Oliveira will attempt to cement his status as the best lightweight in the world.
Heâll do so by defending the strap against Justin Gaethje, the man who earned another crack at the gold by defeating Michael Chandler back at UFC 268.
Oliveira is viewed as the narrow favourite heading into the contest but as we all know, heâs been vulnerable to big shots in the past and âThe Highlightâ is exactly the kind of foe who can give âDo Bronxâ problems in that department.
As for Nate Diaz, heâs still being left out in the cold with no sign of a fight being booked anytime soon. He clearly wants to finish up with the UFC and potentially move on to pastures new, but then again, Diaz has swerved fans so many times that ânever say neverâ is probably a better way to look at his situation.
