Eddie Hearn has named Cris Cyborg and Holly Holm as potential opponents for Katie Taylor.

The boxing promoter discussed Taylor’s next steps on Ariel Helwani's The MMA Hour, revealing both Cyborg and Holm were interested in taking on the Irish star.

But he also claimed the demand for a rematch with Amanda Serrano would be “difficult to avoid.”

Earlier this week, Taylor retained her lightweight world titles by defeating Serrano in a close encounter at Madison Square Garden.

Billed as the biggest women’s boxing match in history, the bout truly lived up to expectation. More than 19,100 raucous fans packed out the iconic venue in New York to watch the pair battle it out.

"We'll have to see if we can reach a deal for the rematch with those guys, and I'm sure we can because it's still the biggest fight for both,” Hearn said.

"We keep talking about - do you look at a crossover fight to an MMA fighter. Maybe in the past, Cyborg was there. I spoke to her, and she wants the Taylor fight.

"Some of Katie's management have talked to Holly Holm. Holly Holm can box. There's no one really in boxing – you've got Chantelle Williams – she's going to be undisputed at some point. She's good but we've got to get her profile to the same level."

Hearn continued: "There's Jessica McCaskill at 147lbs, Katie beat her previously, she's another great fighter.

"But how do you match the magnitude of Saturday? I guess a Cyborg or Holly Holm can do that.

"But it's going to be difficult to avoid the demand and the draw of Taylor vs. Serrano two - and Katie is saying that, you never get Katie saying that, and so many people are.”

Cyborg is the current Bellator featherweight champion, while Holm is a former multiple-time world boxing champion and UFC bantamweight champion.

MMA and boxing star Holly Holm

The latter told The MMA Hour that she was “intrigued” by talk of a fight against Taylor.

“We had talked, Taylor and myself, before I wound up going to MMA,” Holm said. “We had talked about a possible fight there.”

“It does intrigue me. A lot. To the point where, before, I was like, ‘I’ll never box again,’ and I’m not saying that. There’s been a lot of people that have been able to transition back and forth, but nobody’s really been able to do it successfully, and that drives me.

“I want to show people I was able to come to MMA from boxing but I can also go back. It does get me excited.”
