Real Madrid will welcome Manchester City to the Santiago Bernabeu for their Champions League semi-final second leg clash on Wednesday evening.

The tie is finely poised, with City taking a narrow 4-3 advantage going into the match.

The game will be the first since Real were crowned La Liga winners.

Los Blancos became Spanish champions for the 35th time on Saturday after beating Espanyol 4-0.

Pep Guardiola gave a press conference on Tuesday afternoon and he was asked whether his side would give Real a guard of honour.

If you are unfamiliar with the term, a guard of honour is when players from the opposing team form two rows and applaud the champions as they walk on to the pitch.

While there's nothing in the rule book, teams in La Liga often do it as a show of respect and to commemorate the champions' achievements.

Guardiola was baffled when asked if his City side will give one for Real, given their match is a completely different competition.

Reporter: "Will you do the guard of honour to Real Madrid tomorrow as they won La Liga?"

Guardiola: "What? No, I don't have an opinion on that. I'm not concerned with La Liga. This is a match in the Champions Leage."

Reporter: "So, won't you give Real Madrid a guard of honour?"

Guardiola: "Us? That's a question for UEFA. I understand you ask me something about La Liga, about Real Madrid becoming champions. As spokesman for the clyb, which is what I am, we congratulate them. But this is the Champions [League]."

The question comes after Atletico Madrid confirmed they will not give their fierce rivals a guard of honour.

A statement on the club's website said, per ESPN: "Some people want to turn what began as a gesture of recognition for the champions into a public toll that their rivals must pay, imbued with the scent of humiliation.

"Atletico Madrid will under no circumstances collaborate in this attempt at ridicule in which the true values of sport are completely forgotten and tension and confrontation between fans are incited."
