Mohamed Salah gave an incredibly honest interview after Liverpool reached their third Champions League final in five years.

Taking a 2-0 lead into the second leg, Jurgen Klopp's side were strong favourites to see off the threat of Villarreal.

But by half time in the second leg at Estadio de la Cerámica, the tie was level.

A third-minute goal by Boulaye Dia set the tone before Francis Coquelin made it 2-0 before half time.

Liverpool were rocking.

But the introduction of Luis Diaz changed everything and they immediately looked better in the second half.

And in the space of 12 second-half minutes, Liverpool swung the tie back in their favour.

First, Fabinho made it 2-1 in the 62nd-minute. Five minutes later, Diaz headed in from Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross. Sadio Mane made sure Liverpool would progress to Paris to give his side the lead on the night.

Job done.

They won't care how they did it but everyone associated with Liverpool will be delighted to keep their quadruple dreams alive.

And, after the match, the players were asked to put into words quite how they were feeling.

Now, many of them gave media-trained answers and insisted they're not thinking about the quadruple and now just concentrating on the Premier League game against Tottenham on Saturday.

But not Salah.

He gave an incredibly honest interview - perhaps too honest - with BT Sport after the match.

He spoke about his individual goals, who he wants in the Champions League final and his thoughts on completing the quadruple.

Salah on who he wants in the final

"I want to play Madrid, I have to be honest. City is a really tough team, we played against them a few times this season. I think personally, I would prefer Madrid.

"We lost in the final to them so I want to play against them and hopefully win it."

Salah on personal targets

"Always at the start of the season, I set targets. I know what I want as an individual and collectively. That way I know how my season is going.

"Yeah. I have big expectations for myself. Honestly, I've never said this but before the season started, I go for 40 goals this season and 15 assists.

"I need to focus on the goals now! Trent [Alexander-Arnold] is going to be angry that I have the highest assist in the Premier League, but I'm going to go for everything."

Salah on winning the quadruple

"For sure [on quadruple being the target], for sure. Maybe not in the beginning of the season, I always focus on Champions League and Premier League, but now we are close for everything so why not?

"After we beat City in the semi-finals of the FA Cup [when he started to think about Quadruple], but even in the Champions League group stage we played amazing, we had a tough group and played amazing. I started to think we were going to win the Champions League since then."
