Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has set his sights on remaining at Old Trafford for another season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Ronaldo sealed his return to the Red Devils last August, with him joining from Serie A giants Juventus on deadline day, and it appears he is not intending to move onto pastures new when the summer window reopens.

What's the latest news involving Ronaldo?

Ronaldo penned a £480,000-per-week contract lasting until the summer of 2023 when he agreed to head back to Manchester United, meaning he still has more than 12 months remaining on the deal.

However, there have been doubts over whether he will still be at Old Trafford by the time next season gets underway due to Erik ten Hag moving into the hot seat.

It was claimed by the Daily Star last month that ten Hag has given the green light for Ronaldo to leave the red half of Manchester when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

The report suggested ten Hag has made it clear to the Manchester United hierarchy that the 186-cap Portugal international is not part of his plans as he does not suit his style of play.

Uncertainty over Ronaldo's future continued when he appeared to tell the Red Devils fans 'I'm not finished' after a 3-0 win over Brentford on Monday, leading to questions over whether the 37-year-old was confirming he wanted to stay at Old Trafford, but he has since gone on to insist 'I didn't say that'.

What has Dean Jones said about Ronaldo?

Jones understands that Ronaldo has no intentions of walking away from Manchester United for a second time this summer.

However, the transfer insider believes the attacker will hold talks with incoming boss ten Hag before making a final decision on his future.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "From what I know, Ronaldo is planning to stick at United for another season.

"He feels like there's a chance that things will get better but, obviously, he has got to talk to ten Hag about how things might open up."

How has Ronaldo performed this season?

Manchester United have endured an underwhelming campaign, with them currently sitting in sixth place and highly unlikely to break into the Premier League's top four.

That means Champions League football will almost certainly not be heading to Old Trafford next season, but Ronaldo has arguably been the Red Devils' one shining light as he has found the back of the net 24 times in 38 appearances.

The £31.5million-rated star has even claimed two hat-tricks since returning to Manchester United and his latest, against Norwich City last month, was his 50th at club level.
