Wolves: £36m target is 'twice as good' as Molineux star

Wolverhampton Wanderers target Hirving Lozano is ‘twice the player’ that forward Hwang Hee-chan is, according to journalist Josh Holland.

The Midlands outfit have been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old, who has struggled to find his best form for SSC Napoli following his £36 million switch from PSV Eindhoven.

What is the latest news involving Lozano?

Lozano was one of the most sought-after attacking talents in the summer of 2019 due to his impressive exploits for the Dutch giants.

In just 79 appearances across all competitions for PSV, the versatile attacker registered 40 goals and 23 assists, claiming an Eredivisie title along the way.

However, Lozano has been unable to replicate that sort of productivity in front of goal during his near three-year stay at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Despite playing his part in an Italian Cup triumph during his maiden campaign with Napoli, the Mexico international has scored just 26 goals and provided only 13 assists in 113 outings for the Azzurri.

And according to Napoli Today, Lozano’s future with the Serie A giants is far from guaranteed, and he continues to be tracked by long-term admirers Wolves.

What has Holland said about Lozano?

Holland believes that the Midlands outfit ‘need another winger’ in the summer and that Lozano would be an upgrade on their current options.

In an exclusive interview, he told GiveMeSport: “Lozano, he’s been destined for a Premier League move since he burst onto the scene.

“And so, whether he’d come now is unknown, but they need another winger, especially because again, does it look like Trincao is going to come back? I don’t think so.

“I don’t necessarily think Hwang has been a brilliant signing. I think he’s okay; he’s a good squad player, but I don’t think he could start, and I think Lozano is twice the player he is.”

What is Wolves’ current winger situation?

Franciso Trincao has endured a difficult campaign since joining on a season-long from Barcelona last summer, notching up just two goal contributions in 25 Premier League games.

What is the nickname of Wolverhampton Wanderers?

It’s unlikely, therefore, that manager Bruno Lage will make his stay permanent, while Fabrizio Romano has revealed the Catalan giants have no intention of exercising their option to buy Adama Traore.

Yet with Traore having just one year remaining on his Wolves contract, the Spain international could depart Molineux once again, leaving Lage short of options out wide.
