Incoming Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could save £80m if he can help Marcus Rashford rediscover his best form, claims journalist Dean Jones.

The 24-year-old forward has had his difficulties at Old Trafford this season, resulting in talk of a potential summer exit.

What is the latest news involving Rashford?

According to 90min, Rashford is waiting to speak to Ten Hag before making a final decision on his United future.

This comes after The Guardian claimed in March that the Englishman was unhappy at the Premier League outfit due to the amount of game time he was getting.

It has been a tough season for Rashford, who has not always been a regular under Ralf Rangnick, with the United star failing to make an appearance in the team's last home game of the campaign.

Had Rangnick been offered the United job permanently, there probably would have been little chance of Rashford remaining at Old Trafford this summer.

What has Jones said about Rashford?

If Rangnick's successor Ten Hag can get Rashford firing again, Jones believes that could save the Red Devils £80m in the transfer market.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: "Ten Hag, one of his first jobs at United is to get inside Rashford's head and find out what's gone wrong and if he can turn it around. That could save you £80m in the transfer market if you can fix Marcus Rashford."

Should Ten Hag build the team around Rashford?

With Rashford set to finish the season without reaching double figures for goals, there is no denying that this has not been a great campaign for him.

However, the 46-cap England international is still just 24 years of age and is a very dangerous attacker on his day.

He is capable of finding the back of the net, registering over 90 times in his United career, and has the kind of pace that can scare defenders.

"A lot of his best work is in that inside-left channel, coming in off the line," England manager Gareth Southgate said a few years ago when discussing the United academy graduate.

"I think he can threaten teams in behind more. When he opens his legs and he runs in behind defences that’s the last place they want to be," the Three Lions boss later went on to add.

Ultimately, given his age and ability, Rashford is a player who Ten Hag should be looking to build around rather than sell.
