Tyson Fury showed his class with brilliant gesture at old boxing gym

Tyson Fury spars with aspiring boxers

Tyson Fury made a return to his old stomping ground to spar with some aspiring boxers just weeks after retiring from the sport.

Tyson defeated Dillian Whyte via KO at a sold-out Wembley with a devastating uppercut at the end of the sixth round, having outboxed his opponent the entire match.

After the match, the ‘Gypsy King’ announced his intent to retire, despite talks of a bout with the winner of Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk for all four belts later this year.

Speaking on his future, Fury said:

“This is the truth, the gospel truth, nothing but the truth — I’m done. Every good dog has its day. Like a great Roman leader said, there will always be somebody else to fight.

“When is enough enough? I’m happy, I’m healthy, I’ve still got my brains, I can still talk. I’ve got a beautiful wife, I’ve got six kids. I’ve got umpteen belts, I’ve got plenty of money.

“I’ve got success, fame, glory. What more am I doing it for?”

Fury has not forgotten his roots

Tyson Fury is one of the great entertainers in the sporting world. When he speaks, everyone listens and when he fights, everyone watches.

Despite his success, he has not forgotten his roots, he is a humble man and looks to give back at every opportunity.

This was evidenced when he paid a surprise visit to his old amateur gym — The Jimmy Egan’s Boxing Academy in Wythenshawe.

Fans were quick to praise Fury on social media.

Will Fury return to the ring?

Despite seemingly retiring, some people are taking Fury’s words with a pinch of salt and believe he will take up the opportunity to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis.

His father John spoke of the possibility of a unification match with Anthony Joshua, should AJ defeat Usyk, he said

The Ultimate Tyson Fury quiz: Where was Tyson Fury born?

“If AJ can win, wild horses couldn’t keep Tyson in retirement.”

Nonetheless, if he is content to take up the opportunity of early retirement and be there for his family while putting back into the local boxing community by sparring with youngsters then that is his prerogative.
