Manchester United fans will certainly have enjoyed watching Real Madrid's seemingly impossible comeback against Manchester City.

For most of Wednesday evening, it looked as if those associated with the Red Devils would have to deal the fact that either Liverpool or City would lift the Champions League trophy on May 28.

Pep Guardiola's side were 1-0 up at the Santiago Bernabeu and 5-3 ahead on aggregate in the 90th minute of proceedings.

Then second half substitute Rodrygo Goes stepped up and left viewers open-mouthed with two goals in less than two minutes in stoppage-time.

Karim Benzema then secured Real Madrid's progress to the final in extra-time with yet another ice-cold penalty.

Another season, another European failure by this awesome City side and United fans can now cheer on a team in Paris without any issue whatsoever.

Old Trafford hero Patrice Evra was quick to rub salt in the wounds of City and their fans with a Twitter post that has now gone viral.

Evra's tweet after Real Madrid 3-1 Man City

Savage stuff from the Frenchman, even though his beloved United will possibly be playing in the Europa Conference League next season.

As well as the above tweet going viral, footage of Evra telling City favourite Micah Richards that the club will never win the Champions League has done the rounds on social media.

Richards filmed Evra making the claim prior to the Soccer Aid match at the Etihad Stadium back in September, with an accompanying caption that read: "I'm saving this video for when Man City win it."

Sorry Micah, but it turns out Evra was right - for now at least.

The Frenchman won the Champions League himself with United in 2008, although he tasted defeat in four finals as well (2004 with Monaco, 2009 with United, 2011 with United and 2015 with Juventus).

Evra certainly knows a thing or two about experiencing heartbreak in Europe...
