Tottenham manager Antonio Conte will be looking at West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek if he becomes available this summer, claims transfer insider Pete O'Rourke.

Spurs have been linked with the Czech Republic international, and O'Rourke believes he is the kind of player Conte would definitely consider signing.

What is the latest news involving Soucek?

According to the Daily Express, Tottenham could launch a move to sign Soucek from their London rivals in the upcoming transfer window.

The 27-year-old's future at West Ham looks far from certain after it emerged last month that discussions over a new contract had broken down.

90min reported that manager David Moyes was the one who pulled the plug on talks after he expressed to his superiors that Soucek does not warrant a fresh deal.

The former Slavia Prague man is about to enter the final two years of his current contract, so perhaps Tottenham feel that there is an opportunity here.

What has O'Rourke said about Soucek to Tottenham?

O'Rourke reckons Conte will look at Soucek if there is a chance that he could leave the London Stadium this summer.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT about the West Ham star, the football journalist said: "If he was to become available, I'm sure he's somebody that Conte will be looking at because he's got that extra bonus of not needing time to adapt to the Premier League. He can come straight into that team.

"I'm sure a number of Premier League clubs would probably show an interest in Tomas Soucek if those contract talks with West Ham sort of collapse and it looks like he might have to be moved on."

What would Soucek bring to Tottenham?

Firstly, height and steel. Soucek stands at 6 ft 4, while he has proven to be one of the best tacklers in West Ham's squad this season.

Averaging 1.9 tackles per league game, only Arthur Masuaku (2.4) and Declan Rice (2.1) are making more than the £40.5m-rated lynchpin (via WhoScored).

Soucek is also a midfielder capable of scoring goals, with the Hammers ace registering 10 times in 38 Premier League appearances last season.

This term, he has not been as deadly in attack, but at his height, Soucek is always going to be a threat from set-pieces.

When you consider the above, it would be a shock if West Ham allowed Soucek to join Tottenham this summer. But if a new contract is not agreed, they could have a decision to make.
