Real Madrid produced one of the greatest ever Champions League comebacks on Wednesday night.Having already delivered remarkable flashes of escapology against Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea earlier in the tournament, the Spanish champions outdid themselves in the semi-finals.That's because Real somehow managed to bag themselves a place in the final to face Liverpool despite entering the 90th minute of their second leg trailing 5-3 on aggregate.

Real Madrid's epic comeback vs Liverpool

Plus, they weren't just two goals behind against any old mugs with their opponents, Manchester City, just happening to have outclassed them across more than two hours of liquid football.

If it was a boxing match, then you can bet your bottom dollar that City would have won on the judge's scoreboards, but nobody could have seen the knockout blow that Real were going to land.

That's because Carlo Ancelotti's men astonishingly scored two goals in the dying embers of regulation time to force an extra half-hour in which they were able to win the tie overall.

Rodrygo nipped in front of Ederson to find the back of the net on the 90-minute mark, before heading home from Dani Carvajal's cross to cut City's spirit in half with a staggering double blow.

And that laid out the red carpet for Karim Benzema to walk down and take the glory, holding his nerve to score an extra-time penalty that sets Real up for a do-or-die clash with Liverpool.

Crazy bet on Real Madrid's win

Who could have seen that coming? Maybe before kick-off, potentially at half-time, almost certainly not after Riyad Mahrez's goal and definitely, definitely, definitely not after 89 minutes.

Well... actually, scrap that last statement because it seems as though one money-flush punter did actually see Real's astonishing comeback coming as they placed the most audacious of bets.

According to Caesars Sportsbook, one lucky person decided to place $1,000 on Real winning within regulation time just 15 seconds before Rodrygo levelled the scores from Benzema's cross.

Yeh, seriously, with the expertly-timed bet ensuring that the customer took home $45,000 as they watched on - presumably in astonishment - as Rodrygo then made it 2-1 just seconds later.

How? How???

Pretty much everything about the bet is tough to get your head around, but nothing more so than the fact placing the stake 16 seconds later would have been too late for that sort of win.

The time at which the punter mind-bogglingly threw $1,000 at Los Blancos winning against the odds - pun intended - was almost literally the moment at which it looked the least likely to happen.

It just so happens that football is wild and unpredictable to the extent that these kind of bonkers bets come off from time to time with $45,000 weighing in at a pretty tasty payday.

Let's just say that Jurgen Klopp might want to advise his team to defend and work hardest when and if they happen to be beating Real going into stoppage time, no matter the score. Madness.
