Everton are facing a "big question mark" over their proposed plans to relocate to the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, according to journalist Paul Brown.

What is the latest news on Everton's Bramley-Moore Dock stadium?

Frank Lampard's side saw their £500m plans for a new home given the all clear back in March 2021, having been given approval by Liverpool's City Council a month prior.

A report from Liverpool Business News just last month suggested that even if the Toffees were relegated from the Premier League this season, the stadium plan will go ahead.

The move to the Bramley-Moore Dock site would represent the end of Everton's long and historic stay at Goodison Park, their home since 1892.

What has Brown said about Everton's new stadium?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Brown admitted relegation would cast major doubt on the Toffees' plans for their new stadium, and that it has become a real "worry" for the club.

He said: "Then there is the stadium. Does the stadium get built if they're a Championship club? There is a big question mark over that.

"A few months ago it did sound like that would be unlikely if they did go down. Whether that's changed or not, I don't know. The funding is still not entirely in place for the stadium, and it's not going to get any cheaper with world affairs the way they are now at the moment. So that is also a worry."

Everton problems will worry Farhad Moshiri

Quite aside from the ignominy Everton would face if they were relegated from the Premier League this season, the wider ramifications it would cause the club not just for next year, but for the years to come too, would be unthinkable.

The Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, and its 52,000 seats, has been one of the idyllic dreams of the club over the past few seasons, something to hold on to as a real beacon of hope for the future and as a way of challenging the Premier League's established elite.

The news that a move to their new home would come under significant threat should they go down would strike a damaging blow to Farhad Moshiri and the Goodison Park faithful who have been desperate for some good news.

Stay up however, and the picture looks a bit brighter, and with a young manager at the helm in Lampard, there will certainly be hopes of some light at the end of the tunnel.
